Romania will allocate a total of 15 million lei ($3.3 million/3 million euro) in subsidies to stimulate the production of table grapes by self-employed farmers and farming enterprises, the Agriculture Ministry said on Thursday.
To be eligible, farms must have an area of at least 1,000 sq m and up to 10 hectares cultivated with table grape varieties, and must yield at least 6,000 kg of table grapes per hectare, the agriculture ministry said in a statement.
Support for individual farms will be calculated based on a ratio of 1,200 euro per hectare and will be paid out in a single transaction by the end of 2022. The final size of an individual subsidy will be calculated between August 15 and November 21, when grapes are typically harvested.
Previous aid schemes will also be taken into account when calculating the sum each grape farmer will receive, with the maximum sum set at 20,000 lei for three financial awards.
