Randolf Aaldijk, Origin Fruit Direct

"We'd received the first grapefruits loaded in Durban before the deluge hit that area"

The first shipment of South African grapefruit has arrived at Origin Fruit Direct in Rotterdam. "The fruit looks excellent; they're well colored and have the correct internal values," says Randolf Aaldijk. The grapefruit is packed in open-top crates with net weights, depending on the fruits sizes, of 15 to 16kg.

"These grapefruits were loaded in Durban before severe rainstorms hit the area, putting the port out of commission for quite some time. Those logistical challenges mean we'll have somewhat limited quantities for the next three weeks," concludes Randolf.
