On June 8, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam held a forum on sustainable development of the production and sales of fruit products in the South. Le Van Thiet, deputy director of the Plant Protection Department of Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, announced at the forum that China has agreed to import passion fruit from Vietnam.
Next to it, the negotiation of Vietnamese durians to China has been basically completed (China is currently importing a large number of durians from Thailand). "We hope to complete the negotiations as soon as possible so that this year's Vietnamese durians can be exported to the Chinese market," said Le Van Thiet
Dang Phuc Nguyen, secretary-general of the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association, said that recently, the total amount of fruit exported to China has been decreasing, but the export volume of bananas has increased significantly. In the first five months of this year, China imported 742,000 tons of Vietnamese bananas, a year-on-year increase of 10%. Among them, Vietnamese bananas accounted for 43% of China's total banana imports, more than the Philippines, Cambodia and Ecuador.
The representatives of the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association believe that China will continue to increase the import volume of Vietnamese bananas in the future. Dang Phuc Nguyen said with certainty: "In order to increase the volume of imports to China, the quality of Vietnamese products should be improved. Vietnamese bananas are also very competitive in the region."
