AMHPAC Convention 2022 has been formally inaugurated

Víctor Manuel Villalobos Arambula, who heads the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, was in charge of formally opening the summit event on protected horticulture in Mexico. It's here where the current situation of the fruit and vegetable industry, as well as the risks and opportunities that exist in the sector, are analyzed.

Authorities of the sector and representatives of different allied organizations of the AMHPAC also participated in the formal act in the presidium:

  • Guillermo Jimenez - president of the National Board of Directors of AMHPAC
  • Santiago Jose Arguello Campos – general director of Agricultural Promotion of SADER
  • Mirtha Iliana Villalvazo Amaya - municipal president of Bahía de Banderas
  • Genaro Chavez Rubio – Western regional director of FIRA
  • Francisco Ramirez y Ramirez - general director of plant health of SENASICA
  • Marte Vega Roman - president of CAADES
  • Jose Maria Pablos Ritz - president of the IACHR
  • Jose Luis Bustamante Fernandez - president of Aneberries
  • Rosario Antonio Beltrán Ureta - president of the National Tomato Product System

In his welcoming speech, the president of AMHPAC explained that there are clear challenges the organization must continue to address, such as the labor issue and that it comes with great force integrated into the T-MEC.

While Secretary Villalobos Arambula mentioned that, despite the pandemic and climatological imponderables, mainly drought, the Mexican countryside continues to be an engine of the country's economy. Once again, at the end of 2021, the Agricultural Trade Balance and Agroindustrial had a surplus of 7,192 million dollars (MD), and as of June 2022, it maintains a surplus of 4,758 million dollars (MD).

"This has been possible thanks to the fact that Mexico has a strong and thriving protected agriculture sector and the efforts of producers and entrepreneurs in the horticultural value chain," he said.

During the event, the international business environment is also examined and used to strengthen relations between participating decision-makers.

During this broadcast, a cycle of conferences will also be held, bringing together experts within a commercial area with more than 50 stands, along with meetings with experts on the Suspension Agreement and the 10th Commercial Mission.

Once again, the annual convention brings together national and international leaders of the fruit and vegetable industry, agricultural producers, public officials, representatives of the supply chain, researchers, and consultants related to this sector.
