Papaya harvest should exceed 550,000 tons in Espírito Santo

In Espírito Santo, 2023 has been favorable for papaya production. The state’s fruit harvest should exceed more than 554,000, an increase of 30% compared to last year. The Brazilian Association of Papaya Producers and Exporters believes that good weather and an increase in planted area are the main factors for this increase.

The period of greatest fruit production began in September and lasted until January. And there is already a lack of manpower to handle so much papaya. The year 2023 started difficult for producers. Heavy rain at the beginning of 2023 flooded crops, destroyed plantations and left farmers at a loss. It was only from February that they managed to recover the planting.
