US: Kroger unveils new produce supplier biodiversity goal
The Kroger Co. announced a new goal to advance sustainability in its fresh produce supply chain, further protecting pollinators and biodiversity. Kroger will require all of its fresh produce suppliers to use Integrated Pest Management practices for all products supplied to Kroger by 2028 or 2030, based on the grower's size. Medium- to large-sized growers will be expected to meet the goal by the end of 2028 and small-sized growers by 2030.

Walmart has been accused by a U.S. labor agency of using a series of illegal tactics to deter unionizing at a California store. The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) said it had issued a complaint alleging Walmart interrogated workers at the Eureka, California, store about their union activities, removed pro-union flyers from a break room, and threatened employees who distributed union literature in violation of U.S. labor law.

UK: Aldi creates new recipe page to help shoppers get a varied five-a-day
Aldi is on a mission to get the nation out of a fruit and veg rut after new research revealed a quarter (24%) of Brits buy the same produce items every week. The UK’s cheapest supermarket has compiled a set of recipes to inspire the nation when cooking, which it will continue to add to with new recipes throughout the year. The research also revealed how nearly seven in 10 (68%) will always buy bananas and potatoes, with more than half (55%) saying they always ensure apples and onions are in their basket.
