The Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Association made a significant appearance at the Berlin Fruit Logistica Fair, showcasing Turkish delicacies alongside 54 Turkish companies. The fair, a global hub for the food industry, featured a comprehensive range of services from seed development, fruit and vegetable cultivation, to packaging and automation, highlighting the entire value chain. Hayrettin Ucak, the Association's President, emphasized the fair's role in bolstering Turkey's fresh produce exports to Germany, which have seen a notable increase in 2023. Aiming for a $1 billion export target to Germany, Ucak highlighted the fair's pivotal opportunities for achieving this goal.
Ucak also noted that 33% of Turkey's fresh produce exports to Germany originate from the Aegean Region. With exports to Germany reaching $220 million in 2023 from the Aegean exporters, there's potential for this figure to soar to $500 million in the medium term, especially with the operationalization of specialized agricultural industrial zones in the Aegean.
