Iran's agricultural export value sees growth

According to a report from the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), Iran has experienced a 33 percent increase in the value of its agricultural product exports during the initial five months of the current Iranian calendar year, compared to the same timeframe in the previous year. During this period, the country exported 2.657 million tons of agricultural products, valued at $1.453 billion, marking a 22 percent increase in weight from the year prior.

In the first four months of the current Iranian calendar year, Iran exported approximately 2.226 million tons of agricultural products, worth $1.18 billion, reflecting a 32 percent increase in value year on year. The weight of these exports also rose by 22 percent according to IRICA.

The overall value of Iran's exports of agricultural and foodstuff products rose by 22.5 percent in the last Iranian calendar year, as stated by Ruhollah Latifi, the spokesman of the International Relations and Trade Development Committee of Iran's House of Industry, Mining, and Trade. Iranian producers succeeded in exporting around $6.3 billion worth of these products. Agro-food products constituted 12.8 percent of Iran's total non-oil exports for that year.

Iraq emerged as the leading importer of Iran's agro-food products, purchasing $1.986 billion worth of these items, which represents 31.5 percent of Iran's total food and agricultural exports. The United Arab Emirates and Russia were also significant importers, with purchases totaling $751 million and $521.5 million, respectively. The value of Iran's total foreign trade, including oil and technical engineering services, amounted to $153.17.8 billion in the last Iranian calendar year.
