Intensified inspections yield drug bust in Dominican Republic

In a collaborative operation, the National Directorate of Drug Control (DNCD) of the Dominican Republic, alongside Military Security at the Caucedo Multimodal Port and Customs inspectors, under the coordination of the Public Prosecutor's Office, intercepted 204 sheets of a substance believed to be cocaine. The narcotics were ingeniously concealed within a banana shipment earmarked for Europe.

Following actionable intelligence, authorities meticulously screened several export containers. Anomalies observed in one container prompted a detailed inspection, which led to the discovery of the narcotics in a container destined for Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The concealment method involved boxes outfitted with false bottoms, housing the 204 sheets wrapped in brown adhesive tape, designed to bypass security measures.

This operation has triggered an extensive investigation aimed at dismantling the implicated international drug trafficking syndicate, notorious for masking their operations within agricultural exports to destinations across Europe, the United States, and Canada.
