During the first nine months of 2024, Kyrgyzstan recorded a modest rise in tomato imports, totalling 18,560.5 tons valued at $12.2 million. This marks a slight increase from the same period in 2023, when the country imported 18,512.0 tons of tomatoes worth $10.7 million, according to data from the National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan.
- Turkmenistan remained the primary source of tomato imports into Kyrgyzstan, supplying 14,962.2 tons valued at $8.8 million during the reported period. This represents a 22% increase compared to January-September of the previous year, which saw imports of 12,298.1 tons for $7.6 million.
- However, in 2024, Kyrgyzstan's tomato imports from Uzbekistan decreased to 2,773.4 tons, worth $2.3 million, down from 5,845.3 tons valued at $2.7 million in 2023.
Kyrgyzstan also imports tomatoes from several other countries.
- Imports from China amounted to 717.3 tons, a significant increase from 153.2 tons in the previous year.
- Imports from Iran also rose, from 24.2 tons in 2023 to 73.5 tons in 2024.
- However, imports from Kazakhstan decreased from 185.8 tons in 2023 to 34.1 tons in 2024.
