According to information provided by Adam Formica of Sensonomic, Ica's table grape exports increased significantly, almost doubling the volume exported by the same point in the 2022-2023 season. This upward trend is also reflected in shipments from the Piura region, which, until week 50 of the 2024-2025 export campaign, exceeded all shipments made in the 2023-2024 season by 29%.
Formica stressed that the year-on-year increase is notable and is expected to continue growing as Piura concludes its current season. "Exports peaked in week 48 and are now in decline. This season is likely to end earlier than a typical season, such as the 2022-2023 season, due to the higher volumes recorded between weeks 45 and 49," the Sensonomic analyst explained.
Ica exports have begun to gain momentum. They almost double the volume shipped in the same period of the 2022-2023 season. "This advance could be due to an acceleration in exports from Ica to compensate for a possible earlier end of Piura's season compared to the 2022-2023 season," Formica suggested.
Up to week 50 of the current grape export season, Piura and Ica have exported 32.2 million boxes, 25.6 million of which correspond to Piura and 6.5 million to Ica. This is a significant increase compared to the 19.8 million boxes shipped by Piura in the 2023-2024 season.
