Freshuelva selects 380 workers in Colombia, Ecuador, and Honduras for the berry campaign

This week, members of Freshuelva's labor department, Huelva's Strawberry Producers and Exporters Association, traveled to Colombia and Honduras to carry out a new selection process for 380 workers who will join the province's berry harvesting campaign. This initiative, developed under the framework of the GECCO order, and approved by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security, and Migration, seeks to guarantee labor coverage for the season.

This is the second consecutive year that a selection process has been carried out in Colombia after 500 workers from this country were successfully incorporated last season. In the case of Ecuador and Honduras, Freshuelva continues its collaboration with both countries, which have already contributed labor since 2022. Repeat workers from these countries will arrive in Huelva from February on weekly flights.

The president of Freshuelva, Francisco José Gómez, highlighted that "the collaboration and coordination between the Spanish administration and the administrations of Colombia, Ecuador, and Honduras is fundamental to guarantee the success of this process. These workers are essential to meet the needs of our campaign and to allow Huelva to continue to be a world reference in the production of berries."

This personnel selection in Latin America complements the one carried out last December in Morocco when Freshuelva selected 1,300 workers who will start to join the campaign in March. They will join the returning workers from previous campaigns, whose arrival in Huelva is planned for the end of January and the first weeks of February.

With this action, Freshuelva reaffirms its commitment to responsible and planned labor management, betting on diversity in the origin of the international workforce and guaranteeing compliance with established labor and social standards.
