34th Blueberry Seminar highlights Peru’s global role

The 34th International Blueberry Seminar recently concluded in San Borja, Peru, at the Lima Convention Center. The event featured two days of programming where experts discussed critical aspects of the blueberry industry. Attendees had access to presentations by both Peruvian and international specialists, who shared insights and research findings on blueberry varieties and their performance across Peru's diverse climate and soil conditions. The focus was on optimizing management strategies tailored to specific regional circumstances.

Peru's blueberry production showcases versatility, with cultivation spanning nearly the entire coast. The crop is grown in soil, substrates, and pots, adapting to each area's unique conditions. The seminar, a key event for the South American blueberry sector, also facilitated interactions among producers, businesspeople, and investors. Business Roundtables provided opportunities for transactions and agreements on current and future productions, alongside commercial information from industry leaders and market analysts on global supply and demand trends.

The seminar underscored Peru's position in the global blueberry industry, highlighting the crop's adaptability to various environmental conditions and ongoing advancements in fruit quality and field management practices. Following this event in Lima, the seminar will move to Chile next month, Guadalajara, Mexico, in May, and return to Peru in July, specifically to Trujillo. It will conclude in Tangier, Morocco, in September, acknowledging its role as a global industry player.
