Following the delivery of mv Orange Spirit on 19 December 2018, specialized reefer owner and operator Seatrade last week took delivery of the 2nd freezer carrier: mv Orange Sea.
The vessels are built at Guangxin Shipbuilding & Heavy Industry Co. in Zhong Shan, China and the design was done by Groot Ship Design in the Netherlands.
The Orange Class Reefer vessels have been built in accordance with the latest environmental and operational specifications to trade with frozen and refrigerated commodities like fish, potatoes and citrus. The vessels have been designed with a strong focus on high seas transhipment operation, heralding a new era in the specialized reefer industry and supply chain.
The cargo holds are fully equipped with aluminium gratings and the cooler rooms are no longer situated in the cargo holds, allowing cooler defrost operations to be separated from the cargo compartments.
The hull design provides an optimum and unparalleled speed/consumption ratio . The vessel is equipped with a two-stroke main engine meeting the highest efficiency standards. The vessel has a total of 310,000 cubic feet cargo space.

The Orange Class vessels will be commercially operated from the GreenSea Pool in Antwerp, Belgium and the technical ship management will be taken care of by Seatrade Groningen BV in the Netherlands.
Seatrade continues to explore opportunities to modernize and increase its fleet with further acquisitions of new buildings and/or modern second-hand tonnage, combined with possible strategic alliances with third-party owners in the same segment.
