Greek orange, mandarin, lemon, cucumber and apple exports continue to grow

Greek kiwifruit exports have fallen compared to last year. Up until 1/3/2019, they amounted to 95,653 tons, 11,614 of which went to Italy, compared with 122,599 and 31,353 tons, respectively, last year. There is an on-going shift to third countries outside the EU this year, as these now account for 31.6% of the total, compared with 22.1% last year.

Exports of oranges, mandarins, lemons, cucumbers and apples continue to grow. This is especially the case for apples, which record a 41.5% increase, with exports to Egypt reaching 33.669 tons, compared to 17.261 last year.

According to data from the Department of Documentation and Statistics of the Ministry of Rural Development and Food, Greek fresh fruit and vegetable exports for the week between 2/23 and 3/1/2019 are as follows:

-Oranges: 228,629 tons, compared to 221,643 tons in the same period last year.

-Mandarins: 94,045 tons, compared to 90,663 tons last year.

-Lemons: 4,980 tons, compared to 7,440 tons last year.

-Grapefruit: 354 tons, compared to 335 tons in the previous year.

-Apples: 52,355 tons, compared to 36,991 tons in 2018. 

-Cucumbers: 22,806 tons, compared to 26,112 tons in the same period last year.

-Kiwifruit: 95,653 tons, compared to 122,599 tons last year.
