“Since Polish apples gained permission to enter China in 2016, the demand for imported Polish apples has increased sharply in the past two years, and the import volume has increased year by year,” said Henry Wang, Manager at Jiutai Modern Agriculture Co., Ltd.
"In 2018, due to weather conditions, the overall apple production in China dropped, and the supply shortage drove the market price up sharply. In the same year, Polish apples had a bumper harvest. The overall production and quality were both good, bringing in high value for money and creating a good opportunity to import Polish apples. Last year, we imported 34 containers of apples from Poland. As the Chinese market gradually expands, consumer demand is growing strongly, and we plan to import 150 containers this year,” Henry introduced. “Polish Ligols and Red Jonaprinces are delicious crispy apples, they are sweet and juicy, exactly the types of apple that Chinese consumers love. After the crop is harvested, it is generally stored in ULO controlled atmosphere, guaranteeing high quality even after long storage and transportation." Regarding the price, Henry said, “As there are currently few companies in the market that import apples from Poland, our sales price was quite high last season."
“Imported apples are shipped to China in containers via the cold chain. Our sales channels include wholesale, supermarkets, fruit retail chains, and e-commerce, and our products are sold to most parts of China. Some are repackaged by us to market online, mainly packed in 1kg small boxes or 4kg small boxes.”
