"Good demand and prices for Belgian strawberries"

After a period with sky-high strawberry prices, prices have now come down somewhat. “The prices are currently around 3 Euro per 500 grams. We are out of the expensive period, but we are still very satisfied with these prices," says Jeroen Vlayen from BelOrta. "The prices have fallen somewhat due to the increasing volumes of Moroccan and Egyptian strawberries."

"The supply of Belgian strawberries is gradually decreasing, but because we have also been offering open air strawberries for the past three years, we can guarantee more continuity in supply," says Jeroen. "Despite the dark weather we have had in recent weeks, we are very satisfied with the quality of the Belgian strawberries."

The demand for strawberries remains at a good level, according to Vlayen. “The demand has been very good for several weeks, despite the import strawberries that have come on the market in this time. We also notice that consumers prefer Belgian strawberries. "
