Kees Schouten: "This cargo will be gone in no time, but continuation of the market is uncertain"

First Malta potatoes have arrived

Today the first potatoes from Malta has arrived at Altena Potatoes in Veen, The Netherlands. "This is just a small shipment. From next week on, the supply will start to increase", says Kees Schouten, who imports the potatoes in collaboration with Raphael Scerri (Quality Fruits Malta).

"Customers have the information and the first potatoes have been sold, but now it is still a matter of distributing, because a delivery like this is gone in no time. I am curious to see what will follow, because everyone is very anxious about what will happen next," said the potato trader.

"It will certainly not depend on the quality and the sorting is also nice. The potatoes look good in Malta, but harvesting them is a challenge, as many workers from Central Europe stay at home. These are tense times for everyone," concludes Kees.
