According to data from ELSTAT processed by the Association of Greek Exporters and Distributors of Fruits, Vegetables and Juices INCOFRUIT-HELLAS, Greek exports during the first four months of the year increased by 26.7% in terms of value and by 14.8% in terms of volume compared to the same period last year.
More specifically, the volume of fresh fruits and vegetables exported amounted to 551,111 tons, compared to 480,231 tons in 2019, while their value amounted to 418,139,687 Euro, compared to 330,123,568 Euro in the same period last year.
Vegetable shipments in the first four months increased by 10% in terms of volume, reaching 107,926 tons, and by 11.7% in terms of value, with 84.5 million Euro.
At the same time, fruit exports in the first four months of the year amounted to 443,185 tons, which is 16% more than in the corresponding period of 2019, with reductions for apples (-9.6%) and mandarins (-5.6%) and increases for oranges, lemons, strawberries and kiwifruit (by 26.2%, 26.4%, 14.6% and 11.8%, respectively). The total value of fruit exports stood at 333.67 million Euro, which entailed a 31.1% increase.
Orange exports amounted to 202,150 tons (+26.2%), compared to 160,204 tons in the same period of 2019, with their value reaching 96,204,169 Euro (+55.4%), compared to 61,912,285 Euro in the first four months of last year.
For fresh kiwis, the volume of exports in the first four months of 2020 amounted to 84,299 tons (+11.8%), compared to 75,417 tons in the first four months of last year, while their value reached 87,256,067 Euro (+33.5 %), compared to 65,378,965 Euro in the first four months of 2019.
