Fruit and veg dominate Greek exports to Romania

According to recent data published by the Romanian Institute of Statistics (INS), there has been a significant increase in Greek exports to Romania in the first quarter of 2020.

The total volume of bilateral trade between Greece and Romania during the period January-March 2020 amounted to 449.4 million Euro; 3.91% less than in the corresponding period of the previous year.

Romanian exports to Greece were worth 183.9 million Euro and were down by 17.6%. At the same time, imports of Greek products into Romania in the first quarter of the year recorded a significant 11% increase and their value reached 265.5 million Euro.

This increase of Greek exports compared to the corresponding period of 2019 is mainly due to the increase (by 18%) of Greek fruit and vegetable exports, which account for about 17.82 % of the country's total exports.

The value of Greek fruits exported to the Romanian market in this period (January-March 2020) amounted to 35.8 million Euro (+18.54% compared to the same period last year), while that of vegetables amounted to 35.8 million Euro (+18.92%).
