Paul Zuijderwijk, PZ Import:

"Calm start to Spanish Intense-tomato season"

At P. Zuijderwijk Import, the import season for Spanish Intense plum tomatoes has slowly started once more. "Small volumes are now coming in. I have already sold most of them contractually," says Paul Zuijderwijk. He supplies the tomatoes under the Roxy brand and has them available in sizes M, MP and MM.

Their main customers are exporters, wholesalers, but there is also interest from cutting companies. "Intense tomatoes have a higher density than other tomatoes without losing shape or fruit juice. For sandwiches it really is a fantastic tomato," says Paul.

The catering lockdown due to the Corona virus is currently causing some uncertainties in sales, but according to the importer, the demand for the Spanish Intense tomatoes is still reasonably good for the time being. He expects to offer the tomatoes until the end of April.
