Ukraine: Avocado imports up 28% over past year

According to Ukrainian Agribusiness Club (UCAB) analyst Svitlana Lytvyn, the main reason for the growth in demand for avocado is an uptake in healthy eating. In 2020, Ukraine imported 10.800 tonnes of avocados, 28% more than in 2019.

The key suppliers of avocados to Ukraine were Peru (23% of Ukrainian imports), Israel (16%), Kenya (15%), South Africa (12%), and Spain (10%). Over the past five years, the average annual growth rate of avocado imports in Ukraine was 45%. During this period, the import of this product in physical terms increased six times.
