Air-cargo service in Nagaland, India

The launch of the air-cargo service at Dimapur airport is a landmark event for Nagaland. Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio saw off the first consignment of 1.3 tonnes of air cargo of fruit & vegetables produced in the state to Delhi.

The state of Nagaland plans to dispatch two tonnes of organic fruits and vegetables daily. This will require expansion of the cargo facilities and cold storage facilities for effective handling.

Sentinelassam.com reports that, in addition to benefiting agricultural and horticultural producers and entrepreneurs, Dimapur’s freight services will also help diversify India’s export basket through the use of organic products from these fields.
