Steamed potatoes are a must-have in the fruit and vegetable department of large-scale retailers. A product that combines the simplicity of good home cooking vegetables with a controlled supply chain, together with a ready-to-eat option. The Italian company De Lucia offers them in 500 grams packages, accompanied by a free 10g sachet of the famous Ariosto potato seasoning.

"We process about 1,200 tonnes of Fucino - Avezzano potatoes and we have a controlled supply chain. We use crop rotation techniques to obtain sustainable quality products. The smell and taste make the Fucino potato a noble crop, which is already rich in phosphorus and potassium. We offer them with the Ariosto seasoning, which means greater taste at the same price," said Igino Cecchetti and Pino Colonna, co-directors of the commercial sector at De Lucia.
The potato is processed in the classic way, and the cooking process is under vacuum and steam in order to protect the potato and preserve its properties. It is a delicate transformation process, but it yields a product that can be used in many ways.
Domenico De Lucia is an agro-industrial company in the province of Caserta, with a history dating back to the beginning of the last century. The company is very active in the dried fruit and potato sector, and since 2004, the range has expanded to include ready-to-eat products. From artichokes in segments, to quinoa, oats, flavored lupin beans, legume-based snacks, roasted and shelled chestnuts, and, last among the novelties, the yellow turnip.
The idea of adding Ariosto herbal spices to potatoes is the result of a joint marketing campaign between the two companies, which also proposed innovative and safe packaging for the product. The new design highlights the free product, which is attached with a glue dot between the two bags, that also includes an anti-shoplifting system.
