"We are working at full capacity at the moment due to the usual increase in orders before Easter. Although the pandemic will affect this holiday once again and all the restaurants will be closed, fruit and vegetable consumption might increase, especially when it comes to strawberries," explains Rocco Zuccarella, owner of the Zuccarella cooperative.

"All our clients, especially the big retail chains, have been planning Easter supplies and the last shipments will set off on Friday. The positive strawberry trend is driven mainly by the high temperatures, which will increase outgoing volumes, meaning buyers will have more quantities available. Strawberry demand in fact exceeds supply due to the lack of produce caused by the unfavorable weather (little light, low temperatures and abundant rain) that affected southern Italy up until a few days ago. Now, with the increase in temperatures, we can count on around 20% more strawberries."
"We are currently shipping 30 pallets a day to various Italian general markets such as Rome, Milan, Turin, Genoa and Padua. Our produce can also be found in five domestic retail chains. The strawberry commercial trend is positive despite the difficult moment when we could not meet demand. Prices are good, but we would be happier if we could count on higher volumes. At the moment, we are selling every last strawberry we have available."
