The President, Pier Filippo Tagliani: “We are looking forward to meeting our partners and customers at Hall 10 Stand C04”. The Business Development Manager, Marco Bertolazzi: “An intense September for the CIV apple segment with great interest in new varieties and supply chain planning”
CIV will be meeting partners and customers at Fruit Attraction in Madrid until 7 October. “We are here in Madrid with our space at Hall 10 Stand C04 to present our latest products and interesting new varieties” said the President of CIV, Pier Filippo Tagliani. He continued by saying that “it is an important opportunity to meet our partners, collaborators, and customers face to face after more than a year of online meetings.”
Tagliani went on to say that: “The CIV-Consorzio Italiano Vivaisti has acquired forty years of experience in the genetic improvement of apples and strawberries, with internationally well-known varieties (such as Muranopbr and Clerypbr strawberries), important investments in research, and synergy with the most internationally renowned research institutes. We are able to offer leading edge products to meet market demands in terms of fruit quality (such as resistance to certain pathogens) and environmental/energy concerns.”
The Business Development Manager, Marco Bertolazzi explained that ... “As regards apples, September 2021 has been particularly full of business meetings with potential Italian and foreign customers (from Spain and Greece among others) in conjunction with the high point in the harvest of some of our varieties. Here are the most important:
The “Total Red” Gala clone known as T-REX® CIVT15pbr, now appreciated in every growing area where farmers look for a large size Gala which can acquire a uniform colour all over, even in the lowlands, before many other competitor clones on the market
Smeraldapbr, a hybrid resistant to apple scab, suitable for organic and traditional farming, which offers a long harvest season so the green fruit can be harvested, about two weeks after Gala, or yellow fruit after six weeks, almost in the Fuji period. The Smeraldapbr (whether yellow or green) has excellent conservation and shelf-life characteristics regardless of when it is harvested
“Club apples” such as CIVNIpbr/Rubens® Civg198pbr/Modi® which have been known for more than a decade in some European (UK, Italy, etc.) and international markets (California first and foremost)
CIVM49*/RedPop®, a very recent new variety resistant to apple scab, produced and managed in Europe exclusively by VOG which has recently organised a technical and promotional day for potential European partners with a visit to integrated and organic production commercial facilities at Caldaro, Bolzano, and Nalles eliciting great enthusiasm among the many participants.”
In conclusion, President Tagliani added that: “For CIV the Iberian Peninsula represents a territory with great potential for our varieties and/or selections of strawberries and/or apples. That is why we have come to Madrid after a year of absence. We think that Fruit Attraction has great strategic and operative value to consolidate ongoing projects and foster new business relationships with the dense network of contacts already created in the territory.”
