The Polish cauliflower season is coming to and end in just a few weeks. There’s no time for rest, as when the season ends the cabbage season will get started in Poland, along with other winter vegetables. The cauliflower season has been very satisfying, one exporter states.
Once the cauliflower ends, Polish vegetable exporter Green Best will have to focus on various winter vegetables. Kornelia Lewikowska states she hopes demand for winter vegetables will be better than it was last year: “It’s always difficult to predict what an upcoming season will look like before the season actually arrives, but from what I can see the upcoming winter season will have a lot of good quality produce. As a company, we do hope demand will reach higher levels than it did the previous year. Although it’s difficult to say what the upcoming months will look like for winter vegetables, we’re still in the midst of finishing the seasons for other produce.”
For the next two weeks, Green Best is still focused on selling the cauliflowers, as well as pumpkins and capsicums, Lewikowska explains. “We’re still selling cauliflowers, pumpkin and are selling the last quantities of the capsicums as well. The cauliflower trade should end in about two weeks’ time, after which we will slowly start introducing cabbage, carrots, parsley, beetroots and celery to the market. These goods are already available, but so far there has been little interest in them. The winter season will last until March, then fresh spring vegetables begin to appear.”
The Polish cauliflower season has been a very good one in general, as several factors were just right for the season to succeed: “When looking back at our cauliflower season, it’s actually been a very successful year for us. Everything was right; volumes quality and demand have all been on a great level for our company. We hope the winter vegetables will also be positive, we’re ready to get started with them in two weeks from now!” Lewikowska concludes.
