Turnover up at Waitrose fruit supplier Primafruit

Turnover has surged at a Worcestershire-headquartered fruit supplier which has a well-established partnership with Waitrose. Primafruit has reported a turnover of £184 million for the year to 30 April 2021, up from £159.9 million in 2020. Pre-tax profits went up from £4.2 million to £5 million over the same period.

A statement from the board said: “The events of the last year can be described as nothing less than extraordinary. The response of our workforce to the challenges both of Covid-19 and of Brexit has been exemplary. The early months of coronavirus presented exceptional circumstances, with high volatility in supply and demand. By working closely with our growers and customers, our company met this demand and show exceptional resilience to ensure we continued to help feed the nation."
