Diesel shortages due to French refinery strike not affecting Dutch carriers

There is a strike at TotalEnergies, so many French gas stations have shortages. There are long queues at those stations that still have sufficient fuel supply, reports the Dutch automobile association, ANWB. Dutch people traveling to France are advised to fill their tanks in Luxembourg or Belgium.

According to Barry Zuiderwijk van H.Z. Logistics, this diesel shortage is generally not affecting Dutch transporters. That is simply because the trucks often carry more than 1,000 liters and can thus drive back and forth to southern France without having to refuel. Nor does he expect it to lead to a diesel shortage elsewhere. "The staff at some major French refineries striking shouldn't impact our supplies."

"For us, it is so far, so good," confirms Marc Vreugdenhil of C. Vreugdenhil Transport. "We mostly drive to and from the Netherlands and Paris. We fill up about 1,000 liters, so those vehicles need not fill up in France. And those traveling in southern France, Loire, and Brittany have had no problems so far. But that could always change."

Neither has Transport, and Logistics Netherlands (TLN) received any reports about truck drivers having issues.
