Sustainable, mono-material packaging and solutions have recently been gaining ground in Germany and its neighboring countries. The German engineering firm Affeldt Maschinenbau, too, recognizes this development and responds to the food trade sector's needs. Its machine portfolio now boasts the AVN 929 U ultrasonic network machine.

Unlike similar solutions, this innovation, or 'clipper', does not use conventional metal clips. "The net and label are of the same material, so the new packaging meets the mono-material demand," explains sales manager Ricardo Krijbolder of Zakkencentrale Nederland, which offers this company's machines.
The nets and labels are mostly made from (recyclable) PE. The sector, therefore, has access to a complete eco-friendly solution that meets modern consumers' requirements. "The method is suitable for all products that can also be processed via conventional clippers, like potatoes, onions, garlic, and citrus. Basically, anything that's somewhat round."
A closer look at the innovative packaging.
It is clear to the Zakkencentrale and Affeldt Maschinenbau's teams that the packaging sector is changing significantly. Many clients want sustainable packaging, which brings along the need to use different packaging materials. "We must respond to these new demands and offer optional packaging options. Ultimately, the trade sector's willingness to invest in new packaging solutions, like our ultrasonic sealer, for example, is leading the way," Ricardo concludes.
