Since 2015, Pomliberty has been in charge of developing the Gwenne potato, a variety created by Germicopa. Produced for the most part in the Hauts-de-France, the Gwenne is a consumption potato with a behavior close to a firm flesh. The variety is oval, with a medium size and a yellow flesh protected by a thin skin. The Gwenne holds well to cooking and it also stands out as having a “true potato taste”.
The ambition to give the Gwenne a “real marketing position”
At the time of its launch, Germicopa and Pomliberty decided to create the Gwennie® brand, in order to promote the variety. “By creating this brand, the shared ambition was to give the Gwenne a real marketing position. We made sure that all its specific characteristics were highlighted: good yields, fair remuneration of the producers, positioning outside the segmentation, aesthetic and taste qualities…,” explains Sandrine Tual, marketing and communication manager at Pomliberty.
A unique packaging
The Gwennie® brand helped the variety find its position and communication territory, its place at wholesalers, as well as a large segment of consumers. But this year, the Gwenne variety arrives in supermarkets in a unique packaging common to all the operators that work with it. “We wanted to bring a simple visual identification on the shelves with a unique packaging.” A black and white checkered bag that reminds us of our kitchen, with the vintage touch of Gwennie®. For the Pomliberty Gwenne, the packaging also shows the Demain la Terre label, along with the following promise: “by choosing Gwenne, you are choosing an essential product for daily use, with confidence and without risk.”
