"Agribusiness requires easy-to-use technology that provides quick, efficient, and sustainable responses."
The agrotech startup Paraled has developed intelligent, tailor-made lighting that increases productivity and improves crop quality, using LED lighting controlled by software that allows plants to receive the optimal amount of light according to their species and growth stage.
"Much of the production decreases in the months with less sunlight (autumn and winter). The system we designed allows exposing plants to the right amount of light so they can bear fruit throughout the year,” stated Matias Palacios, Paraled's founder and CEO.
Proven results
The system developed by Paraled has allowed Chilean producers of blueberry plants in nurseries to reduce production loss by up to 50%, shortening production cycles and increasing productivity by up to 100%.
Paraled hopes to repeat these achievements with pitahaya producers. “We're confident that we'll succeed. Agribusiness requires easy-to-use technology that provides quick, efficient, and sustainable responses,” stated Juan Pablo Matte, director of research.
Paraled's subscription service includes access to the software, the library with lighting recipes, the leasing of lamps and controllers, as well as remote support from the company's team of scientists and agronomists.
With a portfolio of more than 40 clients in Peru and Chile, they seek to boost the agricultural market and reach a turnover of 1,000,000 dollars in 2023. To this end, they will strengthen their participation in the Peruvian market.
