The harvest of the Blue Manila (Plablue 1545) blueberry variety in southern Morocco is in full swing. Almost half of the production has already been picked.

"The earliest of Planasa's low chill varieties is proving its worth in Agadir as an extra early variety (Planasa Earliness). Growers can market it from week 50, a period in which they can achieve good profit margins, not only because prices in the market are high, but also because it is an easy-to-harvest variety."
"Blue Manila also stands out for its appearance (good size and resistant bloom), as well as for its sweet taste. It is currently one of the most sought-after varieties among growers who are looking for both an early harvest and good yields. Another characteristic is the excellent shelf life (Planasa Shelf Life), essential for export to the European market."
"In addition, the harvest of Blue Maldiva (Plablue 1542), an extra large variety (Planasa Jumbo), has also started in South Morocco. About 20% of the production has already been picked. This variety is doing very well because it is very attractive to the consumer. Blue Maldiva maintains that firm size throughout the entire growing cycle."
Northern Morocco
Meanwhile, in the northern part of Morocco, Larache and Kenitra, specifically Blue Madeira (Plablue 15102) is about to start its production. The harvest is expected to begin in the first weeks of January. "Blue Madeira is a variety with a very high yield (Planasa Yield). Its fruit has a homogeneous size, a balanced flavor, and a crisp texture, complying with the company's main quality standards (Planasa Premium)."
Planasa groups its berries, garlic, and asparagus varieties under the Planasa Genetics brand according to five characteristics: earliness (Planasa Earliness), large caliber (Planasa Jumbo), exceptional quality (Planasa Premium), excellent shelf life (Planasa Shelf Life) and high average yield (Planasa Yield).
