"Being a farmer nowadays is a real challenge. Being a farmer in production areas like Murcia, in conditions of aridity, water deficit, and soil salinity, is even more of a challenge," stated Silvia Madrueño, Symborg Marketing Manager for Spain and Portugal. "Biotechnology is an essential tool to produce more and better, meeting consumption requirements, regulatory requirements, and sustainability," he added.
Symborg focuses its work on the base of the crop: the soil. Specifically, the soil microbiota and its community of microorganisms. "How do we get stronger crops with greater caliber while maintaining profitability?" asks Silvia Madrueño. "There are tools, such as biofertilizers, with prebiotic and probiotic functions, which, applied separately and especially together, manage to multiply the soil's beneficial microbiota."
"Confidence in our products is a matter of proximity to the farmer, scientific knowledge, and solid field data. For example, we have achieved results in lettuce cultivation, in clay soil, with medium salinity, a high rate of active limestone, and a low content of organic matter [1.63% (w/w)]. In addition, we have proven the effectiveness of Qlimax (prebiotic) in phosphate solubilization and nitrogen fixation, promoting up to 3 orders of concentration of Bacillus and Actinomycetes populations in the rhizosphere. These populations produce biomolecules that improve plant growth, the production of vitamins, and other compounds related to soil formation," Silvia tells us.
On the other hand, VitaSoil (probiotic) acts as a soil regenerator, ensuring greater efficiency in the recycling of nutrients from the soil solution and favoring key physiological processes such as flowering, curdling, and maturation," she added.
They can be used in isolation or together, although "the combined application of both products allows us to homogenize sizes, which translates into higher yields. This can make it possible to take better advantage of commercial windows, especially in cold periods."
"Production differentiation is a key factor in any business strategy. Knowing our soil and applying a strategy to its management is fundamental to achieving this," the marketing manager of Symborg concluded.
