Stadler Champidistribution SA in Aigle has always produced its mushrooms with green energy. A small hydroelectric power plant ensures the right climate in the production halls, leading to a harvest volume of over 900 tons of mushrooms per year. "From around 12,000 kilograms in the beginning, the company reached some 700,000 kilograms by 2007 and today we are at over 900 tons of mushrooms per year. This impressively illustrates the growth development of this crop," Cédric Stadler tells lid.ch.

"Although the climate in the halls is computer-controlled, managing the substrate by hand is nevertheless essential," the managing director explains. "Compost is an active matter and only with stable conditions can we achieve a good yield, guaranteeing high quality."
