Following a very successful 2021-22 promotional campaign, Fruit Growers Tasmania is running a second marketing campaign in Taiwan for Tasmanian cherries. Last season the digital marketing campaign achieved over 3.2 million views of the video ads on Facebook and You Tube as well as 8,500 engagements and over 100 Facebook followers in the short four week period of the campaign. This success translated to an increase in sales and improved prices.
Peter Cornish, CEO of Fruit Growers Tasmania, said “Taiwan is a very important market for Tasmanian cherries, it is now our second largest export market behind Hong Kong. Tasmania has widespread pest free area status so that allows us to airfreight cherries to Taiwan with no phytosanitary treatments; the fruit is ripe and ready to eat but still with plenty of shelf life. It is another busy season for cherry growers in Tasmania, with a late start to the season due to a cooler spring and less clear daylight hours than usual.
"However, recent good weather has meant there will be plenty of plump red cherries available for consumers both within Australia and overseas for weeks to come, extending the season well beyond the Lunar New Year celebrations and opening up our produce to potential new customers. We’re excited to see the results of this year’s marketing campaign.”
Peter added, “Tasmania grows very large, red cherries which are always juicy and delicious, but at this time of year we are also harvesting beautiful blueberries, ravishing raspberries and succulent strawberries.”
The marketing of Tasmanian grown cherries in Taiwan links with their new digital showcase of Tasmanian fresh produce www.Tasmaniangrown.au - a virtual exhibition space of the premium fresh produce grown there, including fruit, vegetables and nuts.
Tasmanian Grown was launched at Asia Fruit Logistica in November last year and has subsequently been extended to include individual pages on all the key fresh produce grown in Tasmania. This includes details about Tasmanian export volumes, where the produce is grown and the markets we sell to. The digital showcase is designed to meet the needs of buyers who can register their details which will be passed on to Tasmanian growers.
