At this year's BioFach, Eden Fruit Ltd will again take the opportunity to highlight the versatility of dates. "At any moment we are awaiting the announcement of our Naturland certification, which represents another milestone for us in our efforts to make sustainable organic and nature-based agriculture the standard. We are therefore particularly pleased that many buyers are currently, specifically asking for it. Through our worldwide unique cultivation method of date palms - called Ghout's - we can ensure to best protect the so important and increasingly endangered resource 'water' by using it in a sustainable way. Naturland has special, much stricter requirements regarding the sustainable use of water resources compared to the regular organic criteria," the company's management reports.
Eden Fruits, based in Kehl-am-Rhein, is primarily dedicated to marketing the Deglet Nour dates produced and packaged by its sister company Ziban Garden. After gentle preparation and packaging, the goods are primarily delivered to buyers in Europe. "Germany is still our most important sales market. In France, also one of our most important markets, we recently did very well in a customer test comparison in food retailing. Following the difficult pandemic years, we are also keen to further expand our position in the USA market. But we also see further potential for development in the European food retail sector."
Naturland certification will help the company in this regard, it further states. "We are one of only a few date producers who will be able to offer this certification, which is of course a significant added value. For us, however, it is not so much about the competitive advantage, but rather about operating sustainably, actively protecting nature and always maintaining a respectful and fair relationship with all our partners. For us, these are essential components of our working philosophy. Accordingly, 'organic' is also clearly linked to Fairtrade for us."
The Deglet Nour dates from North Africa are mainly sold in wooden or cardboard packaging.
For Eden Fruits, the Christmas period and the upcoming Ramadan period are traditionally the periods of the year with the highest sales. Ramadan starts this year on March 22, which is why larger orders are already being placed, one observes. "One notices that orders are gradually increasing, as everyone wants to stock up on goods in good time. We see ourselves however for the high season in the best way prepared, speak commodity is more than sufficient and in all desired qualities and containers available."
At BioFach, Eden Fruits will be represented in the immediate vicinity of the Naturland stand. "In view of the new certification, this is of course a great opportunity for us to talk specifically with potential buyers and other interested parties."
