Bulgaria's wholesale food costs are represented by the market price index (MPI), which increased this week by 1.58 percent to 2,383 points. According to BTA, its level has increased 2.89 percent (from 2,316 points) since the start of the year.
The cost of greenhouse tomatoes increased by 3.4% to BGN 3.44 ($1.88) per kilogram. Cucumbers grown in greenhouses increased by 11.6% and cost BGN 4.90 ($2.68) per kilogram. Towards the conclusion of the week, the cost of red peppers rises by 5.5 percent to BGN 4.00 ($2.19) per kilogram.
The price of potatoes is BGN 1.24 ($0.68) per kilogram, while the price of carrots has increased by 1.7 percent to BGN 1.17 ($0.64) per kilogram. The price of cabbage dropped by 8% to BGN 0.80 ($0.44) per kilogram.
