Ecuador is exporting more and more broccoli to international markets. In 2022, Ecuadorian broccoli exports to the Japanese market increased by 23% over the previous year, totaling $74 million, according to the 2022 Statistical Report on Foreign Trade prepared by the Ecuadorian Federation of Exporters (Fedexpor). This wasn't the only destination that increased its purchases of Ecuadorian broccoli.
According to the report, the United States and the European Union increased their purchases of Ecuadorian broccoli by 12%.
Other products within the agribusiness category, such as canned fruits and vegetables, also achieved significant growth. The US increased its purchases of these products by 29%; the European Union by 15%, and Chile by 30%. Exports of this segment totaled $228 million.
