In an effort to quadruple its exports of avocados to China, the agricultural company Kakuzi is in discussions with a significant fresh product importer in China.
Dalian Yidu Group, a Chinese importer of fresh fruits and vegetables whose top executives were in Kenya last week, is cooperating with the publicly traded company.
As the harvest season begins late next month, Kakuzi Plc Managing Director Chris Flowers said the company will increase its shipments to China.
In order to address the rising demand for high-quality superfoods around the world, Kakuzi has also expanded its avocado plantations by an additional 60 hectares, from 927 hectares, at a cost of Sh120 million ($95 200).
