Viktor Vijverberg: (Freight Line Europe): "Service delivery back at pre-Brexit level"

"Morning orders reach British wholesale markets that same night"

Brexit undoubtedly caused logistical challenges for European fruit and vegetable exports in recent years. "Systems lagged significantly," says Dutch company Freight Line Europe sales manager Viktor Vijverberg. "Especially on the British side, which also affected our services. Thanks to our partners CSI and RBF Cargo, we've now reached the point where we can offer the same services as before Brexit. We could already do that with full trucks but can now also do so for all groupage shipments again."

"Our customers can, thus, place orders in the morning for early sailings, and we can deliver the goods at different British wholesale markets like London, Birmingham, and Manchester that same night," Viktor explains. He adds that despite the challenges, Brexit hardly affected Freight Line Europe's overall transport volumes. "We didn't transport less, but that has to do with our growing client base. However, there are market shifts. The United Kingdom is, increasingly, directly importing, particularly, high duty products."

"The situation also demanded plenty from the chain. Fortunately, the UK government systems are now automated as well. That demands flexibility; your buyers must want this too. This development means we can better serve our current and new customers," Viktor concludes.
