The GLOBALG.A.P platform currently brings together more than 50 European and British supermarket chains. GLOBALG.A.P works with fruit and vegetable suppliers to ensure the food safety and quality of fruit and vegetable products at their points of sale.
"GLOBALG.A.P, Agrocolor, and Coexphal finalize the details for the staging of the GLOBALG.A.P. Tour Stop 2023 in Spain, which for the second time will take place in Almeria. The event, which will be held under the slogan 'Responsible agriculture of the future', is a unique opportunity to know first-hand Almeria's solar greenhouses' sustainable production model and to deepen the certification of sustainability in the European market. One of the novelties will be the 6th version of the emblematic GLOBALG.A.P. Integrated Farm Assurance (IFA) standard, which will be mandatory for fruits, vegetables, flowers, and plants from 2024, after a small period of adaptation at the beginning of next year.
"The event, which will bring together producers, retailers, wholesalers, quality technicians, distribution chains, professional organizations, institutional representatives, and NGOs, will be held on March 14 and 15 in Almeria's countryside and at the Palacio de Congreso de Aguadulce, in Roquetas de Mar (Almeria). The first hours of these days will be dedicated to technical visits to farms and companies to get to know in situ Almeria's agricultural, certification, and food safety model."
"Then, there will be some presentation sessions where the main European distribution chains, such as Carrefour, Aldi, Tesco, and Fresh Strategy (which works for Lidl), will share their future strategies with their main suppliers. Currently, it has more than 200,000 certified producers in more than 135 countries, with Europe being its main supplier and proximity region."
"Part of the success of Almeria's agricultural model is due to the appropriation of a series of quality standards, most of which have been implemented by the associated producers of Coexphal (which account for more than 80% of the Almeria fruit and vegetable production and marketing) and applied and certified by Agrocolor. This certifier recently announced that it is the entity with the most producers worldwide assigned to one of the GLOBAL.G.A.P. standards. Agrocolor has been offering tools and advice to producers so they can improve their crops and productions for the past 25 years."
"This is one of the biggest events of the agri-food sector worldwide and it's taking place in Almeria with the help of Coexphal and Agrocolor, two entities that have worked with GLOBALG.A.P. since its inception because they know that quality and excellence are the best calling cards in the markets," stated Luis Miguel Fernández, manager of Coexphal.
