One of Australia's largest trucking companies has entered receivership. Scott's Refrigerated Logistics, offering mobile refrigeration and temperature controlled warehousing, whose clients include Coles and Woolworths, entered voluntary administration yesterday, before KordaMentha was appointed receivers. Deliveries to major supermarkets will continue for the meantime.
KordaMentha partner Scott Langdon stated that the firm was seeking backing from Scott's customers to give the company the best chance of finding a new long-term owner. "We've paid sub-contractors overnight," he said. "We will be paying employees in the next 24 hours as they're due and we're commencing an immediate sale campaign to keep the 1,500 employees employed and keeping the hot chips on the shelf."
Langdon said Scott's had been impacted by increased fuel prices, extreme weather events, Covid shutdowns and a shortage of workers. He added the receivers will meet with key customers today to get their backing for reshaping the business and securing the jobs of 1500 workers and sub-contractors.
