"A way to help farmers in need" against drought

Discounts for companies that want to conduct underground water exploration

The water emergency alarms, already mounting in February, are pointing to another waterless summer, especially in the northern regions of Italy, where not even the latest rains and snowfall seem to have improved the dramatic situation in reservoirs.

Conducting underground water search operations in Côte d'Ivoire

In order to facilitate farms and thus allow entrepreneurs to save their crops during the hottest months of the year, HydroHunter Italia, a Grosseto-based company that conducts underground water research through innovative remotely piloted aircraft systems, has provided subsidized rates for all clients who see artesian wells as a possible solution to ensure irrigation of their crops.

Vincenzo Orso, pilot of the said company, explains that "Until mid-May, we will be applying a 20 percent discount on our price list to make this small investment even more appealing. It is a strategy to come to the aid of farmers who are facing severe water shortages, an issue that is steadily worsening with the arrival of the hot season. Interest in artesian wells has grown in the past year, but there are those who drill without knowing whether there are aquifers in their area capable of providing volumetric satisfaction. Our service, therefore, intends to prevent people from spending money on unnecessary drilling, knowing instead in advance whether or not it is worthwhile to go ahead."

"The discounts also provide an incentive for the farm to work ahead of time. In the summer months we work nonstop and often cannot meet all requests, which among other things require some urgency. The waiting list gets longer and the risk of the crop being damaged increases."

HydroHunter Italia, before flying over the ground with high-precision drones equipped with a special technological probe, first investigates the individual soil portion affected on a geological, hydrogeological and geophysical level, then hands over the analysis free of charge to the client. "With only a few hundred euros, we are able to provide the company with immediate and accurate answers. Compared to other research systems, we are cheaper and faster. In fact, in two hours we can scan up to 5 hectares of land, at a depth of 240 m."
