The increase in selling prices in the carrot market in Ukraine continues for the third week in a row, according to EastFruit project analysts. At the same time, market analysts are sure that it is not the limit yet and that prices for carrots will continue to grow. They explain their opinion with the lack of supply of carrots in Ukrainian farms. At the same time, traders and wholesalers fail to even partially cover the deficit with imported products, including carrots from Poland.
Today, carrots are mostly sold at 28-36 UAH/kg ($0.77-0.98/kg), which is 12% more expensive on average than at the end of the last week.
Market participants say the reason for the increase in prices was a noticeable increase in demand for carrots. At the same time, their stocks in Ukrainian farms are noticeably depleted, which also supports the price rise.
Because of such an increase in carrot prices in Ukraine, they are already 3 times higher now than in the same period last year. Moreover, most market players are confident that prices will continue to rise in the segment, as there is a shortage of carrots in the market, while demand remains quite high.
