Carmen Crespo, the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Rural Development, inaugurated the new propagation greenhouse of the Spanish cooperation Campoejido in Dalias together with Francisco Lirola, the mayor of Dalias, and Cristobal Martin, the president of this Andalusian cooperative society. "This new greenhouse's three hectares of surface are an example of innovation and commitment to organic farming, with 7,000 meters dedicated exclusively to it," Crespo stressed.
Carmen Crespo congratulated the 3,300 Campoejido members for these facilities that "stand out for the use of the latest technology in their structure, thermal screens, irrigation trolleys, cultivation tables, germination chamber, climate control, lateral ventilation, and irrigation heads."
She also highlighted the approximately 150 jobs that the company has created in its different centers and the importance of the implementation of a seedbed that will generate up to 60 new jobs in the Dalian municipality.
The mayor of Dalias, Francisco Lirola, congratulated the president of Campoejido for the inauguration of its new facilities. "The secret to making dreams come true is a mix of curiosity, confidence, courage, and consistency. Today Campoejido has become part of this mix, as its men and women are allowing us to partake in the reality of their dreams."
The Minister also recalled that: "The industry is being affected by very high production costs that can only be tackled with a reduction in personal income tax and taxes on our farmers and irrigators."
"We have already asked the Ministry for a 50% general reduction of the IRPF to the field due to the structural drought that our land is suffering and the increase in production costs, a percentage that we want to rise to 65% in the case of melon and watermelon, which were so affected by last year's Calima storm," Crespo stated.
The inauguration and subsequent visit of the facilities of the new Campoejido seedbed in Dalias were also attended by the Secretary General of Agricultural Funds and Rural Development of the Ministry, Manuel Alias; the Director General of Agricultural Production and Livestock, Manuel Gomez Galera; the Director General of Direct Aid and Markets, Raquel Espin; the Secretary General of Agapa, Daniel Quesada; the territorial delegate of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Rural Development, Antonio Mena; the mayor of El Ejido, Francisco Gongora; the mayor of Adra, Manuel Cortes; the mayor of Berja, Jose Carlos Lupion, and members of the Governing Council of Campoejido.
