With a population of around ten million, the Rhine-Ruhr region has been one of Germany's and Western Europe's big metropolitan areas for decades. The diversity of the population is also reflected in the regional food retailing sector. With a total of six stores and a strong premium assortment, the Zurheide store network, founded in 1977, is undoubtedly one of the Edeka Group's flagships.
High-quality products and a unique shopping experience are clearly at the forefront: numerous products are freshly prepared and can be tasted on the spot, as was revealed during an on-site visit to the branch on Berliner Allee in Düsseldorf's city center.

Organic and regional
Regionality and organic produce are high on the list of priorities at the modern adventure store: under the Naturkind product line, for example, numerous premium products from organic farming are on offer. The family farms that are often behind the respective fresh products are often depicted with a picture and a short company portrait on the product packaging or label.
Contemporary in-store and convenience concepts
The fruit and vegetable department is also significantly larger compared to regular Edeka stores, distinguishing itself with a wide convenience assortment. One of the highlights in the in-store concepts area is the smoothie and juice bar directly in the entrance area. Here, customers can expect not only fresh, cold-pressed vegetable and fruit juices, but also special smoothie creations such as the trendy "Smoothie Bowls."
