The Uz Food fair, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, an event dedicated to technologies for the agri-food sector, started on 28 March. Among the exhibitors is the Italian company Futura srl, with CEO Omar Papi giving a live report from the fair.

"There are many visitors from the first day," Papi begins, "and this is a good omen. For us it is a very important fair as we have an office here in Uzbekistan, Futura Central Asia. We have both pre-arranged appointments, but also many chance meetings with operators who are interested in our lines and Italian technologies in general."
Futura deals with processing lines for fruit and vegetables. Papi points out that there are many exhibitors at the fair, while there are few Italians. 'We are meeting existing customers and other potential ones. 2023 should be the right year to realise some projects."
He continues: 'The requests come mainly from customers who have to process apples and stone fruits, but also greenhouse vegetables such as tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers."

Visitors are not only from Uzbekistan, but also from neighbouring countries such as Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. Here too, operators need automatic lines for grading and sorting fruit and vegetables.
