Last week, Peruvian fresh banana exports finally ended the six-week streak in which shipments were lower than in the previous season. “In week 11, Peru exported 5,467 tons of bananas, i.e. 34% more than in the same week of last year,” Fresh Fruit reported. "Despite this small recovery, accumulated exports in the current campaign amounted to 50,120 tons and were 2% lower than in the same period of the previous campaign."
In this last week, the main destinations were the Netherlands (30% share), Chile (23%), and Panama (15%). Compared to the previous week, the Netherlands tripled its imports, purchasing 1,641 tons. Chile increased its imports by 29%, totaling 1,276 tons. Panama increased its purchases by 15% importing a total of 798 tons.
Last week, exports were led by the Sabrostar Fruit Company S.A., with an 18% share (1,000 tons); followed by Pronatur S.A.C., with a 13% share (694 tons); and Cooperativa Agraria Appbosa, with a 7% share (380 tons).
