South Tyrolean asparagus season officially started

Market prices only slightly above last year's level

The asparagus harvest in the South Tyrolean asparagus stronghold of Terlan has officially begun this week. However, it will probably be another week before the Terlan asparagus finds its way to the stores in the Pustertal and Vinschgau valleys, as the harvest is still too small. This is according to  Manfred Koroschetz, coordinator of the Terlan asparagus, talking to Rainews.

Despite inflation, prices have risen only slightly compared to last year. This year they are between seven and 16 euros per kilo, depending on the quality. Koroschetz emphasizes that the beauty of asparagus unfortunately costs money. However, this does not necessarily affect the taste. Asparagus will be harvested in Terlan this year until May 21. After that, he has until the next spring break.
